Summer Camp at Home

Many kids still can't get vaccinated, and many families aren't yet ready for a crowded camp experience. I've been lucky to find some online opportunities through libraries as well as a local small day camp that was very limited, but I'm still looking for things during the other weeks of the summer. One great idea is to do your own summer camp with plenty of crafts!

The Most Elaborate Cat Gadgets

If there's anything I've learned from both toddlers and finicky felines, it's that the expensive gadgets we buy mean much less to them than the packages they come in. Cardboard boxes, pipe cleaners... these are the things that keep my cats happy. In fact, I often find a bunch of pipe cleaners curled up around the house after a cat or two drug them out of a supply closet somewhere!

Your July Garden To-Do List

Some of us gardeners like to fly by the seat of our pants. More serious gardeners have checklists of things they want to accomplish each month (sometimes each week, especially during planting season). I'm a combination of the two and I have to admit that last year I was much more serious than I am this year. I have more on my plate this season so I am not growing nearly as many crops, but I still have a few to harvest and water daily.

Strangest Animals As Pets

Being on TikTok has shown me that people all over the world have some pretty strange pets. There are people who consider bears their pets, and people who have enormous Big Cats at home. I'm not talking housecats that need diets but 200-pound wild animals that could certainly, and easily, kill you. I don't know about you, but I think it's not a great idea to keep a pet like that.
