Late Summer Drinks

Summer wine? Yes, please! A few years ago I would've been all about apples and pumpkins at the end of summer, but Fortune Cookie Soap got me hooked on end-of-summer fruits with their Wizard of Oz ("Witch Please") collection last year. Now I'm all about those yummy summer smells. In fact, I've got some blackberry in my wax burner right now.

Latinex Book BINGO

Another book, another book challenge! Latinex Book BINGO approaches! In honor of Latinex Heritage Month, the challenge will take place from September 15 through October 15. You can follow the account on Twitter to get your BINGO cards.

The obvious challenge is to read books by Latinex authors. You can find over 170 ideas just by following the account or look up Latinex authors on Goodreads or wherever you buy books.

What Animal Will Come Next?

Every dominant species eventually finds its end, and current events certainly have many of us contemplating the doom of humankind. That said, once we're gone, another species will certainly rise to the top. The only question is... which one?

I the series The Future is Wild, scientists suppose that it will be giant squids that take over. I love this idea since they're already pretty good at avoiding us. They're also super smart. So is the octopus and the dolphin, for that matter, and I think they would also have a shot.

Fall Garden Prep

Fall is just around the corner and it's time to start thinking about what you might want to do for your fall gardening. Are you growing cold weather crops? Just cleaning out the old stuff? Maybe you're like me and you want mums everywhere (but can't due to your pets!).

Replenishing soil is a must if you're doing anything new, so be sure to do that. I highly reccomend a layer of chicken poop in between soil if you can! Mine come in very handy for that and make my garden grow incredible things. I grew a Chinese cucumber this summer the span of both my arms.

Moon Cakes for Midsummer Festival

Every year, the Chinese Moon Festival sneaks up on us and I never get mooncakes in time. They're always sold out at our local Chinese bakery! This is where I absolutely want to buy them, and I have a note to get them two weeks early (they keep for a long time), but if I'm not able to get there because of life (it's a bit of a drive), I'd love to know where you get yours!

Mooncakes come in a wide variety and I definitely want some yummy nut and bean cakes, but I'd love to try some fruity ones, too. I hear pineapple is especially good, and I love pineapple.

Alien Encounters

Now that the U.S. government has confirmed the existence of aliens, how are you remembering every time someone told you they saw aliens or were even abducted by them? The latest Unsolved Mysteries series has an episode featuring an abduction and while I might have scoffed years ago, now I'm wondering if it may be true.

I have loved ones who've claimed to see aliens or aircrafts before and I've always just shrugged it off as a military or another kind of plane. I've had a few weird supernatural experiences in my own life that I continue to find explanations for as well.

Fall Crafting

Americans sure do love fall, don't we? I can't wait until the season each year. The bugs die off, the heat reduced to a sweet evening breeze and I can wear all my favorite clothes and enjoy all my favorite foods and scents again. What's not to love?

Fall is also a great time for getting crafty, whether that means knitting scarves, printing with apples or whatever fun Halloween craft you want to make. I think a new wreath is on my to-do list this Halloween. I'm also going to use some spooky napkins to mod podge onto my planters, but I'll be keeping them there all year!

Mask Up

Wearing a mask has become second nature in my family, especially for my husband who has to wear one at work. But in many states, governors still refuse to issue mask orders, including mine, which means that when we go anywhere, we're surrounded by people who refuse to wear them. The ironic thing, of course, is that while we protect them with our masks, we don't receive protection in return.
