Have you heard about how Reese's, Hershey's, KitKat and other candies are becoming new layered desserts? They're called Colliders, and they are new layered desserts kept in the refrigerated section.
The treats come in three different styles. Twisted is a vanilla dessert that has a candy topping, while Chopped consists of desserts with chopped pieces inside. The Layered version has smooth chocolate topping instead.
How much do you love a good pastry? Do you love it enough to try over 100 of them to find out which one is the best pastry in Seattle? That's what food critic Tan Vinh recently did and the results might surprise you.
"Cancel culture" just isn't a thing. People with that much power certainly aren't canceled unless they do something super heinous, and even then most continue to get away with it. Just look at the previous president. Consequence culture, however, is a thing, and now that we are familiar with some of the terrible things famous people have done, it makes sense to not follow or study them anymore.
A friend who is moving just gave us her Nintendo Wii U, and we're excited to check out the many games with it when we get a chance. Since today is Mari10, I'm super tempted to try some out tonight, but there are also these cool Mario games to try if you don't currently have any at home and want to increse your collection.
Have you heard that the latest "snack craze" is nothing but... butter on crackers? This is hilarious to those of us who grew up in the 80s and had butter on crackers as a snack on at least a weekly basis, if not more often. I bet today's kids have more real butter on their crackers than the margarine we always had, though, which is probably loads better.
Lots of people say you should rehydrate with a sports drink after a workout to replenish your fluids. Alexis Rose of Schitt's Creek could definitely be the spokesperson for that as often as she talks about rehydrating! It turns out that sports drinks aren't the best option, though.
Lately it feels like if a book isn't written as an example of Own Voices, or authors writing about their own experiences from a marginalized group, I don't want to read it. I'm sure that won't always be the case, and it's not like I don't support all my favorite white authors anymore, but there are a lot of reasons to support #OwnVoices books.
As I keep getting notifications of vaccines "near me" that translate to a three-hour drive away for a first dose because my state's vaccinations are a mess, I look on as people show off their band-aid badges of honor, asking "which vax did you get?" I've read that when the shot is available for you, you take it, no matter which one it is.
The poor First Dog just can't get a break. Major is an elderly dog and a Good Boy, but recently he was attacked by the press for looking his age. Members of the press were unnecessarily cruel to the elderly doggo, much to the dismay of the American people, and taunted his looks. Apparently they don't know what an elderly dog looks like.
It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Skinny Syrups, and I'm excited to share that they have some new flavors with even newer benefits. I'm not sure if the company has ever sold energy and immunity boosters before, but the two new flavors that I saw today have one or the other in them.
While my husband and I have had Stranger Things on for background music once again (this time it's while we paint part of the house!), I've been wanting to rock out a side ponytail and wear some leggings. My kiddo and I won a virtual 80s trivia contest with the library last week, which has only made me long for some 80s moods even more.
Springtime isn't really one of my favorite seasons for shopping. There are great deals here and there, but in terms of my happy indie stores that sell home scents, oils and other creature comforts, there aren't a whole lot of scents that I look forward to. I get much more excited over fall sales.
The discovery of strange creatures, particularly where they aren't supposed to be, is always an exciting event, and scientists have recently discovered some weird creatures from beneath half a mile of ice. The discovery was done in the best way--totally by surprise! When geologists braved freezing temperatures and ate dehydrated food for almost three months to study an ice shelf, they certainly didn't expect to find life beneath the ice.
This past week has been so heavy where I live. Honestly it's always heavy in the Midwest lately. I know I've complained about the gerrymandering here for years but that's why. We have reps who have no business being reps. We have people in the senate who don't even live here. My senator is constantly trying to drum up drama while ignoring our problems. He even cheered on seditionists and should be impeached somehow. If I knew how to go about that, I so would.
